Calgary Sisters Celebrated Mother Catherine Aurelia’s Venerability
An official Decree dated December 1, 2016, was received from Rome confirming that our Foundress, Mother Catherine Aurelia Caouette, was among those declared Venerable by the Church.
To celebrate this special recognition of the holiness of our Foundress, our Precious Blood Community, established here in Calgary over 65 years ago, invited those who attended our Sunday Mass to join us. We were blessed to have our newly appointed Bishop William T. McGrattan to concelebrate the Mass with three of our chaplains: Father John Schuster, Father Ray Lowing, and Father Anthony Pudota. Before the Gloria of the Sunday Mass, the special Decree was read by Father Lowing. It provided details about the life of Mother Catherine and the reasons for this recognition of her holiness. The Sisters Adorers of the Precious Blood, Daughters of Mary Immaculate, the Community she founded, carries on her spirit and charism today, a contemplative community dedicated to a life of prayer and reparation.
