Sr. Tran Bui Perpetual Profession of Vows & Sr. Teresa Doan First Profession of Vows
Saturday, October 7, 2017 was the day chosen for our “Double Ceremony” when Sr. Tran Bui made her Final Profession and Sr. Teresa Doan pronounced her First Vows.
The sun shone brightly as we gathered at Holy Family Church here in London, Ontario for this very spectacular event. Each of the Sisters making their respective vows had a very special member of their family joining them for this day. For Sr. Tran it was her priest-brother, Fr. Martin Bui and for Sr. Teresa it was her mother, Mrs Lien Le. Both Fr. Martin and Mom had arrived only days before, from Vietnam. Many of our Community friends joined us, as we welcomed these two new members to our community.
Bishop Joseph Dabrowski, CSMA, our Auxiliary Bishop, presided at the Mass of Religious Profession assisted by our Bishop-emeritus John Michael Sherlock and several of our priest-friends.
The Rite of First Profession took place first, during which Sr. Teresa read her First Vows and committed herself to God as a Sister Adorer of the Precious Blood for two years. She then received from the Bishop the signs of her Profession namely: the red scapular, the black veil and the silver cross of the Sisters of the Precious Blood.
Next was the Final Profession of Sr.Tran. The Bishop questioned her:
“Are you resolved to live for God alone, in solitude and silence, in persevering prayer and willing penance, in humble work and holiness of life?”
Sr. Tran responded with a resounding “I am”.
Immediately after, she pronounced her vows, pledging her life to God and his service as a Precious Blood Sister, all the days of her life.
The Bishop then read the Consecration Prayer over her and presented her with her ring to which she responded:
“I am the spouse of Him whom the angels serve and whose goodness fills us all. As a pledge of faith He has given me His ring.”
We thank God for these two women who have come to us from faraway Vietnam and we ask God to bless them and their families as they dedicate their lives to Him.
** Our dear Sr. Teresa Doan died on June 16, 2019, at our Hamilton Monastery.
